Introduction to Resilience Affirmations

You have to deal with a big loss or failure.

These situations can appear virtually out of nowhere and blindside you.

Even if you had time to prepare for them, they might still cause some serious hardship in your life. No one is immune to these inevitable difficulties.

I remember my first true experience of loss when my grandfather passed away from lung cancer. I’d lost a friend, mentor, and guide. My grandmother’s solution was to take me away from all those reminders on my first trip to Vancouver.

And while the move away from the environment where the tragedy occurred, worked to distract me, I can’t help wondering how a set of positive affirmations might have helped me.

What if I’d had a set of resilience affirmations like the ones below, to help me bounce back better?

That’s why I wrote the 15 resilience affirmations for the video. To help build that resilience muscle inside of you.

I also include 3 journaling questions should you want to dive a little deeper into the topic.

Use these affirmations to help you bounce back quicker when adversity strikes.

Before The Resilience Affirmations Video Consider These 5 Tips

  1. Acknowledge the Validity of Your Struggle: No matter what you’re going through, you are facing it for a reason, and you will develop more bounce back abilities. Recognize that your struggle is valid.  

  2. Reflect on Your Existing Resilience: Recall the tough times in life. How did you get through them? What did your learn form the experience?  Would knowing some resilience affirmations helped you get through a troubling time? 

  3. Leverage Your Strengths: Identify your personal strengths. Take a few online assessments to  understand what your strengths truly are, whether it’s your personality, intelligence, talent, or work ethic—and use them to push through obstacles 

  4. Balance Sharing and Privacy: While seeking support is essential, finding the balance between sharing and respecting your own privacy is important. Seek out only trusted friends who will uplift you and encourage you. 

  5. Embrace Resilience as a Character Strength.  Remember that resilience isn’t just about bouncing back–it is a process of living.  It’s time to affirm your inner strengths and your ability to bounce back. Listen to the resilience affirmations below.

For this exercise I suggest you use blank paper and sketch, write and doodle your thoughts without the restriction of lines.

  1. How can I accept support graciously?
  2. Who can I talk with when I am struggling?
  3. What is one unpleasant event that turned out to be a blessing for me?
