Be prepared to delight in serendipity as the universe   supports you in your “work”.

I guarantee you will be changed in so many magical ways by the process of surrendering.

Oh, and one last thing… you are engaged in a life-long endeavor.

Release Resistance: The Art of Surrendering

Surrender invites us to let go of our need to control every aspect of life. By relinquishing resistance, we flow with the natural rhythm of existence. This freedom from constant struggle allows us to conserve energy and find peace within.

In his book The Surrender Experience, Michael Singer talks about our desire to force things to turn out the way we want them, even when we have no control over a situation. 

This is the question he asks and the beginning of the book:

Am I better off making up an alternative reality in my mind and then fighting with reality to make it be my way or am I better off letting go of what I want and serving the same forces of reality that managed to create the entire perfection of the universe around me? I often find myself resisting something that is happening in my life. When I spot I’m doing that,  I roll my hands and  repeat, release,  release, release, until I feel resistance fading and that opening up inside that comes when you actually release an unwanted feeling , emotion or reaction. 

Trust in the Universe

Surrendering involves trusting that the universe has our best interests at heart. When we surrender, we acknowledge that there is a higher intelligence guiding our path. This trust empowers us to navigate challenges with grace and resilience.

When you surrender, you align with the universe’s rhythm, knowing that everything unfolds at the perfect moment.

I often remind myself that it’s my job to do, the Universe’s to provide. 

It means giving up worrying and focusing on what your heart loves. 

Misery comes from trying to force things to happen which requires a huge expenditure of energy.

One of my biggest struggles with just letting go is my nomadic life style where I spend about 6 months in Panama and the other six months in Canada bouncing from the homes of my three sisters and my son. 

I don’t know how this nomadic adventure will resolve itself, or if it even needs to be resolved.

I’ve had to release my static idea of home, and embrace uncertainty. I put my faith in the Universe to resolve this question when it is necessary. 

When I can let go of my desire to control outcomes, I feel the deeper sense of connection to the divine within me. 


Embracing Flow

Life is a river, and surrendering is our willingness to float downstream. Instead of fighting against the current, we learn to adapt and flow.

Esther Hick of Abraham Hicks is famous for this statement. “Nothing you want is upstream.” 

Instead of battling against the current, you learn to flow with it. This freedom from resistance brings ease and lightness to your journey.

This sounds so easy, but we’ve been indoctrinated to push, to fight up river. 

Not going with the flow is what is at the heart  of every negative emotion you feel.” Esther Hicks. 

Healing and Letting Go

Spiritually surrendering allows us to release emotional baggage, old wounds, and limiting beliefs. As we surrender, we invite healing energies to cleanse our hearts and minds. Forgiveness becomes easier, and we create space for new beginnings.

Awareness is the key. As you learn to spot my your are resisting you become aware that the universe will place before you things for you to let go of, or release. 

The other night I had a dream where I was giving a interactive talk with a group of people. The talk was going very well, and then a couple of people interrupted the flow of conversation. They were being belligerent and negative. Instead of dealing with them in a calm and tranquil manner I reacted with anger. Even in that dream state. I knew I was being given a lesson in releasing anger. 


Here is a good exercise to try the moment you begin to sense you are struggling with an emotion, or feeling, or unwanted situation. 

Ask: What am I struggling with right now? What part of that can I surrender.?

5. Connection to Something Greater

Surrendering connects you to the wellspring of existence—the Source, God, or Universal Intelligence. It’s an acknowledgment that you’re part of something greater. This connection brings solace, purpose, and a sense of belonging.

Remember that the universe will only ask you to surrender those things you are ready to let go of. 

Trust in the process, because this is a process of a life time. 

In his book The Surrender Experience, Michael Singer speaks of his life long process of letting go. It is not something that happens overnight. 

Release is like a muscle you are developing. The more you exercise it the greater your power to let go and allow what is to exist without resistance.
