3 Actionable Steps For Understanding Interbeing

 Interbeing practice. 

1. Practice Mindful Observation in Nature

Actionable Step: 

Spend time in nature, such as going for a walk in a park or visiting a garden. Focus on observing the interconnectedness of natural elements—how the wind moves the trees, how the sun nurtures the plants, and how all these elements coexist in harmony.

Common Pitfall: 

Being distracted by technology or internal thoughts.

Tip to Overcome:

Leave your phone behind or set it to Do Not Disturb mode. If your mind starts to wander, gently bring your focus back to your surroundings. Practice deep breathing to center your attention on the present moment. 

2. Engage in Positive Affirmations

Actionable Step:

Incorporate positive affirmations into your daily routine. Start your day by affirming your connection to the universe and the divine presence in all things. For example, say, “I am connected to all that is. I am part of the divine universe.”

Common Pitfall:

 Doubting the effectiveness of affirmations or forgetting to practice them regularly.

Tip to Overcome:

 Write down your affirmations and place them where you can see them daily, such as on your bathroom mirror or refrigerator. Set a reminder on your phone to practice affirmations every morning and evening.

 3. Cultivate Self-Love through Daily Practices

Actionable Step: 

Choose one aspect of self-love (self-esteem, self-worth, self-respect, self-care) to focus on each week. Engage in activities that reinforce this aspect, such as journaling positive qualities about yourself, setting healthy boundaries, or treating yourself to a relaxing activity.

Common Pitfall: 

Feeling overwhelmed by trying to improve all aspects of self-love simultaneously.

Tip to Overcome:

Break down the practice into manageable steps. Focus on one aspect at a time and notice how improvements in one area positively affect other areas. Celebrate small victories to maintain motivation.


Interbeing: We Are All Interconnected Transcript

Hello, Nick Grimshawe here from Beautiful Summer Morning and today is our fourth speaking meditation. And today I want to talk about interbeing. But first before we go to that, just so that you know who I am, my name is Nick Grimshawe.

I’m the publisher and writer for Beautiful Summer Morning and I help seekers of inter-transformation speed up their progress by suggesting practices and exercises that will move them forward towards their dreams. And a large part of that is coaching people to achieve those consistent practices. It’s consistency that makes progress in spiritual growth happen.

So today interbeing, I want to talk about interbeing because it’s an idea that is key to understanding, for instance, the six-part series I did on self-love. And Thich Nhat Hanh is the person who came up with the idea of interbeing and he’s the famous Buddhist monk and it’s really a Buddhist concept. And what interbeing is, is the understanding that nothing exists separately from anything else, that we are all interconnected.

And this goes to sort of the heart of spiritual growth and development, is to come into that presence of that connectedness to everything. Rather than feeling like an isolated person separate from everything else, we are actually in the flow of the universe and we are part of everything in that flow of the universe. And so interbeing is like arms wrapping around you and giving you a big hug.

We are all part of the divine presence and we are all manifesting the divine universe all together. So we’re not separate, we’re not alone and in that I think you can find a great deal of comfort. And as somebody else said, and this is Ernest Holmes, he said, the more completely we are able to see God in everything, the more completely will the one God in all things respond to us.

And these are powerful ideas. The more we accept that we are part of God, we are not separate from, and we couldn’t possibly be, then we become more aware of the interconnectedness of all things. And it goes to the heart of personal and spiritual growth, is that the work you do on yourself is working on everybody else at the same time.

And it’s why we talk about the only way to help another is to help yourself, to work on yourself and to create that blossoming of your own authentic self and the expression of the divine universe through you into the universe. So it’s all very lofty thinking, but to take it back to my six-part series on self-love, there are six aspects of self-love, and there’s self-esteem, self-worth, self-respect, self-care. There’s one other one I can’t think of it right now.

So those are all the parts that I’ve been working on. And if you work on only one of those parts, you are actually working on all of those parts. So as you work on one part, you’re increasing your ability in all the other parts of the equation if you want.

So it’s an idea that I use a lot in everything that I’m doing. I know that when I’m working on a certain practice, that I’m working on positive affirmations, that is helping me in other areas as well. And positivity is the key ingredient to our spiritual growth.

And without positivity, we’re not going to make any progress, which is why I talk about positivity, positive affirmations a lot. So what I’m recommending for you today, again, it’s simple exercise. Get out of the house, get out into a park, go for a walk, go to your garden where you’re actually in nature.

And by doing this and observing, observing how everything is connected to everything else. And you can see that like the walk I did yesterday, it was a beautiful sunny day, but very windy and the wind is everywhere. And all the trees are responding to the wind.

So the wind and the trees and what I’m seeing are all interconnected. So I hope this helps you see that oneness or wholeness is the true picture behind the illusion of separation. And that as we focus on looking for God in everything and in everyone, we increase the planetary consciousness and the vibration of the planet just by walking around and noticing the interconnection of everything.
